Dear AccountMate Clients,
AccountMate has announced the release of V8.3 of the flagship AccountMate/SQL product line on October 3rd and NexLAN will be mailing CDs of the new build to all of our direct clients running AccountMate/SQL with a current “Lifecycle” maintenance agreement, or V8.X with a “Standard” agreement, as of that date.
While the software itself is included in the aforementioned maintenance agreements, please note that installation, configuration and porting forward of data and any customization is an additional item for which we are happy to provide a “not to exceed” quote.
Thus, our rule-of-thumb is that clients generally see the most benefit from upgrading every other build – but even if you’re running V8.2 we encourage you to examine the list of new features and enhancements closely as perhaps there is an item which will significantly improve your operation and thus make this a MUST HAVE upgrade.

Payroll Tax Subscriptions
It is AccountMate’s 2013 Payroll Tax Subscription season with subscription options of Federal plus a single State, five States or all 50 States (plus PR & DC).
The 2013 Federal W-2 Electronic Filing Generator (formerly MagMedia) is also available to subscribers of a Payroll Tax Subscription plan at an additional cost.

Application Improvements Released
Application improvements are regularly released, but we’ve honestly wrestled with the best means of notifying you about them. Since many installations are customized, installation sometimes requires integration of the updates with customizations already in place; and many issues being addressed occur only in very narrow circumstances (such as when multi-currency is configured, or other such esoteric conditions) so we’re hesitant to make everyone think every patch even has to be installed.
So, with those caveats, we’d like to make you aware that AccountMate has recently released program amendments to address the following possible issues in AM SQL/Express 8. These application improvements are available to clients with an active AccountMate Software Maintenance Plan and we’re happy to provide them to you directly, or to install/integrate them (which would be a billable event).

Problem: Customer currency code is not saved during create RMA.

Problem: Getting ODBC 515 error: Cannot insert NULL value when reprinting AP computer check.

Problem: Inventory Serial Number Report only accepts 15 characters for serial numbers.

Problem: Unit Price is multiplied by U of M factor when clicking Close in Create Invoice > Line Item Detail.

Q: We often have the need to invoice a non-stock item; however, our customers and items are not taxable. How do I handle this issue?
A:Set up an inventory item record for this special use. Place a check mark in the Check On-hand and Update On-hand checkboxes and ensure that there is no check mark in the Taxable check box.

Q: How do I ensure that the non-stock inventory items use the proper GL Account IDs when I invoice them?
A: Access AR Module Setup; then, choose the GL Accounts tab. Verify that the correct GL Account ID is in place in the Inventory (Non-Stock) field.

Tip: When installing AccountMate Service Packs at the server, you MUST select the ‘Custom’ Setup Type. This option allows you to select the Administrator component and update the Administrator program files. Selecting other Setup Type options will not update the Administrator program files and you will get an error when you attempt to launch AccountMate.
