Year-End Closing
Whether this is your first year-end closing or if you’ve been through this process before, remember that NexLAN is never more than a phone call away! If you’ve misplaced your copies, we’re happy to provide you with written procedures for month- and year-end closing. Just hit <reply> to request our latest information.
2007 Payroll Tax Subscription
The 2007 Payroll Updates are not yet available from AccountMate for download. When AccountMate notifies us that they are ready (within the next week or so), we’ll send emails to everyone who ordered with download details and instructions.
You are welcome to perform the update yourself, however, about 75% of our clients prefer to have NexLAN handle the process. If you’re not feeling “geek,” please contact us and we’ll schedule time to implement the updates in your system.
Remember: The update must be installed after the last payroll run of 2006, and after performing the month- and year-end closing, but before the first payroll run of 2007!
Finally, since AccountMate 6.5 doesn’t maintain transactional payroll detail for the prior year,* we recommend creating an additional “company” specifically to hold your 2006 payroll data. By copying data into this “dummy” company, you can close the year in your actual company without losing access to the details of your prior year’s payroll.
*However, AccountMate 7 payroll does maintain the historical detail from year-to-year!
Upgrading to AccountMate 7.2 for SQL/Express
The time has definitely come to plan for AccountMate 7 for SQL/Express. If you have an active LifeCycle maintenance plan, you will have already received the new CDs. Be sure to keep them in a safe place!
We’ve already been in contact with the vast majority of you and have scheduled upgrades to happen as soon as the end of the calendar year.
Remember: Manufacturer’s support for AccountMate 6.5 for SQL/MSDE will end on July 31, 2007 – more than one year after the release of AccountMate 7. While we are happy to continue supporting your current system beyond this date, we are likely to find limitations once coverage by the manufacturer is unavailable. Fortunately, we still have more than 6 months to plan for this event.
Holiday Closings
NexLAN will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2006 and Monday, January 1, 2007. If you don’t have our latest emergency contact list, hit <reply> and we’ll gladly send you a copy.
