Dear AccountMate Clients,

I was working recently on a piece of literature to prospects entitled “When is it time to move beyond QuickBooks?” and realized that some of the points might even be applicable to you, our current AccountMate clients.

Many businesses start on QuickBooks, or other entry-level financial management systems, then find one or more of the following reasons to “move up”. You’ve obviously been motivated to make the same move for one or more of the following reasons – but have you considered all of them?

Manual Processes: Entry level acounting solutions “do what they do and no more” – and if that doesn’t fit your business then that’s just too bad! The number one reason for moving up is to streamline manual processes and improve staff efficiency – and with the flexibility of AccountMate’s available source code you have this covered IN SPADES. So, take a look around and see what’s eating up your staff’s time – and know that options to improve are at hand.

Lack of Integration: Entry level systems are typically islands unto themselves and often, like QuickBooks, use proprietary databases which make it difficult to integrate with other systems. AccountMate has numerous pre-built vertical solutions which are deeply integrated (INFOtrac CRM, XCharge customer credit card payments, ShipIt UPS/FedEx/USPS shipping, and RedTail EDI to name a few), but we regularly integrate to other systems for tasks such as importing e-commerce orders, scheduling product delivery, etc. So, what external systems are you using that would benefit from integration with your accounting information?

Lack of Information: Entry level systems are also notorious for not providing information in any format except their predefined reports. AccountMate provides the flexibility to easily customize the built-in reports, integrate with a user-friendly report writer like Stonefield Query, or bring true Enterprise-level Business Intelligence functionality to bear with Clickbase. So, what information do you know is hiding in your system that you’d really like to see?

Lack of Controls: The Achilles heel of entry level accounting… user privileges and security! AccountMate provides flexible definition of user and group level security on a per company basis – because rarely in a multi-user system should all users have the same permissions!

As you can see, there are numerous drivers for moving up to a mid-tier solution. Now that you’re there, hope this quick overview provided ideas to leverage the functionality you already have at your fingertips with AccountMate.

Regards,

Kevin E. Stroud
